Yes, Soracom IoT SIM cards support SMS messaging; however, specific restrictions apply for security purposes.
Supported Conditions
SMS sending and receiving is limited to the following scenarios:
- Sending SMS from the User Console, Soracom API, or Soracom CLI to an IoT SIM.
- Sending SMS between IoT SIMs registered to the same Operator.
- Sending SMS from an IoT SIM to Soracom Beam, Soracom Funnel, Soracom Funk, or Soracom Harvest Data.
Unsupported Conditions
The following scenarios are not supported:
- Sending SMS from an IoT SIM to a non-Soracom device (such as a personal smartphone).
- Receiving SMS from a non-Soracom device (such as a personal smartphone).
