Connection Behavior
When you change an IoT SIM status to Active, the Soracom platform is ready to create a new session and start communicating immediately.
However, the actual time it takes for a connection to be established depends on the behavior of your device. If your device attempted to connect to the network while the IoT SIM was still in the Suspended status, the network may have returned a "permanently rejected" signal.
As detailed in the Subscriber Status documentation, many devices are designed to stop attempting to connect entirely after receiving a permanent rejection signal. In this scenario, the device will not reconnect on its own, regardless of how long you wait.
Forcing a Reconnection
Because the device may have stopped sending connection requests, you must often force the device to initiate a new session. To establish a connection immediately after changing the status to Active:
- Reboot your device.
- Disable and re-enable the cellular network adapter (if applicable).
- Use a modem command or other method to manually restart the cellular module.
User Console Status
Please note that the User Console does not automatically refresh the IoT SIM status or session information.
Even if your device has successfully connected, the session status in the list may still display Offline. To confirm the current status, click the Refresh button in the User Console or reload the browser page.
