You can terminate a Virtual Private Gateway (VPG) directly from the Soracom User Console. However, you must meet specific prerequisites before doing so. Additionally, VPGs configured with dedicated line connections (Soracom Direct or Soracom Door) require an extra step to detach the lines prior to termination.
Prerequisites
Before terminating your VPG, ensure the following conditions are met:
- Dissociate SIMs: Remove all SIMs associated with the VPG. You can do this by removing the VPG configuration from the SIM Group or by unassigning the SIMs from the VPG-associated Group.
- Delete Active Sessions: Close all active sessions utilizing the VPG. You can achieve this by taking the SIMs offline or manually deleting the sessions through the User Console.
Terminating a Standard VPG
For standard VPGs that do not use dedicated line connections, follow the steps in the VPG termination documentation or use the instructions below:
- Log in to the User Console.
- Navigate to the VPG screen from the main menu.
- Click the name of the VPG you wish to terminate to open its configuration page.
- Click the Terminate button.
Terminating VPGs with Soracom Direct or Soracom Door
If your VPG uses Soracom Direct (dedicated leased line) or Soracom Door (VPN), immediate termination is not possible. You must first request the detachment of these dedicated lines. For more details on terminating Door connections, see the Soracom Door documentation.
To request detachment, please submit a request to Soracom Support with the following details:
- Inquiry Category: I have a question about technical specifications or usage
- Subject: Detach dedicated line connection from VPG

Description: State that you wish to detach the dedicated lines to proceed with VPG termination, and provide the following information:
- VPG ID
- Service Name (Specify Soracom Direct or Soracom Door)
- VPN ID (Required for Soracom Door connections)
Once the support team confirms that the dedicated lines have been detached, you can proceed with the standard termination steps outlined in the section above.
