If you have added a subscription to your existing Soracom IoT SIM card using Subscription Containers, and the status of the additional subscription does not change from "Shipped" or "Delivered", the OTA (Over the Air) update process may have been interrupted or the device may not meet the necessary requirements.
Verify Device Requirements
Ensure the device meets the requirements for Subscription Containers to receive updates:
- SMS Support: The device must support SMS functionality (MO-SMS and MT-SMS).
- STK Compatibility: The device must be compatible with SMS Toolkit (STK) commands.
- Network Compatibility: The device must be compatible with the RAT (2G, 3G, LTE) and frequency bands for both the original subscription (e.g., plan01s or plan-US) and the additional subscription being added.
Troubleshooting Stuck Status
If the status remains shipped or delivered for more than 15 minutes, the OTA update may have been interrupted. Soracom attempts up to 12 retries for each subscription update.
To manually retry the update, follow these steps:
- Check Connectivity: Ensure the device is online, idle (not busy sending/receiving heavy data), and has good cellular reception.
- Reset Connection: Delete the device's session from the User Console.
- Reboot: Restart the device.
