APN stands for Access Point Name. It is the network setting that acts as a gateway between your device's cellular network and the public internet or a private network.
APN Configuration
To connect to the network using a Soracom IoT SIM, configure your device with the following settings. For more detailed instructions, please refer to the Basic Connectivity documentation.
- Name: Any name you choose (e.g., Soracom)
-
APN:
soracom.io -
Username:
sora -
Password:
sora -
PDP Type:
IPorIPv4 -
Authentication Type:
CHAPorPAP
Note: If you are using the plan-DU subscription, you must set the APN to
du.soracom.io.
Understanding Required Fields
When a device connects to a cellular network using a Soracom IoT SIM, authentication is handled primarily through credentials stored directly on the SIM card.
Consequently, the only strictly required setting for many devices is the APN (soracom.io). However, Soracom provides the standard Username, Password, and Authentication Type values listed above for devices that require all fields to be populated to save the configuration profile.
