Key Terminology
The following list defines the most common identifiers and status columns found on the SIM Management screen:
-
ICCID (Integrated Circuit Card ID) The unique serial number identifier for the IoT SIM (physical SIM card) or the virtual SIM/subscriber.
-
IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity) A unique identifier for the mobile subscription. In the Soracom platform, the IMSI is the primary key used to identify, operate, and manage the IoT SIM across various services and APIs. It is one of the most important parameters for managing your connections.
-
MSISDN (Mobile Station International Subscriber Directory Number) The phone number assigned to the IoT SIM, formatted to include the country code. If your SIM supports SMS, this is the number used to send SMS messages to the device.
-
Status Displays the current subscriber status (e.g., Active, Ready, Suspended) and the session state (Online or Offline). For a detailed explanation of each status value, refer to the Subscriber Status documentation.
-
Plan Indicates the subscription type, specifically whether it is data-only or data + SMS. Subscriptions that include SMS capabilities are denoted by a mail icon.
-
IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identifier) The unique serial number of the device (modem) in which the SIM is inserted. This identifier is required if you wish to use the IMEI Lock feature, which restricts the SIM to establish sessions only when used with a specific device.
